Welcome to the Website of the A.I.S.S.C. The Alberta Iron and Steel Safety Council is a spin off of the Old Metal Trades Safety Association that ceased operations in the late 1970s. On May 28, 1981 a group of steel related companies came together in Red Deer at the suggestion of Garth McGibney and Brian Solomon of Western Canada Steel Ltd and the A.I.S.S.C. was formed.. On this site you will find information and documents pertaining to the Alberta Iron & Steel Safety Council, along with contact information, meeting minutes, links to name a few. The AI&SSC currently has 17 industry-based members as well as government-based members representing the Alberta Workers’ Compensation Board and Alberta Employment and Immigration. As the AI&SSC is self-funded and non-profit, the yearly membership dues cover the cost of the meetings and other council business. Meetings are held four times per year in Calgary, Red Deer, Edmonton and Lethbridge and are generally hosted by a member’s company along with a tour of their operation. If you or your company is interested in joining the A.I.S.S.C please contact Bob Conacher or Lionel Robideau. Our meeting schedule for 2010 is:
